Really nice dialogue with woman who's dog was shot

And just to further show you the level of class and dignity this woman possesses, here is her original FB post regarding the incident.

"It's with the heaviest of hearts that we let everybody know about the passing of our beloved Tonka. We are broken here in the Mongno house. We have hundreds of pictures and so many more memories of our goofy puppy. I have so much to say to explain what happened, but I'll just copy and paste a message that I sent to the person that we got him from:

We have the worst of awful news to share with you. Yesterday, Tonka was walking to the house with me and must've seen some deer in the woods (there is a small section of woods adjacent to our property and connects a few properties). I was following him and loudly calling him back, but we was happily chasing the deer. He has done this before and comes back 30 secs later). This time, he didn't make it back. One of our neighbors, unbeknownst to us, had given a relative property to deer hunt. A man saw Tonka running. Tonka stopped, probably about to return home, and the man shot and killed Tonka with a cross bow. The rest of the neighbors and I are furious and the police and game warden are involved. It all happened so fast, but I was so loudly calling him home, other neighbors, from further away could hear. Our hearts are completely broken, we devastated. I will never forgive myself for letting him get away from me. My poor kids couldn't be more broken, especially my 9 year old. I just wanted to tell you, so you knew, and thank you so incredibly much. Tonka put so many smiles on so many faces. His lovable, goofy personality made everyone around him happy. He was truly a one of a kind dog and we will miss him so much. Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to bring Tonka into our home and hearts. I'm so sorry to be typing this. Never in a million years did I think that this could happen."

So I am all for UBNJ taking up a fundraiser to give to family to be used at their discretion and preference. I did my research and based on comments she was already getting,  she seemed approachable so I decided to reach out.

Just one question, to what "awareness and education" was she refurring? She mentions it in her response to you but neglects to specify what exactly we need to be aware of or educated in? Just curious, but it seems she's thinking this through and not painting with a broad brush, but the one sentence has me wondering is all.

Hunt with a Vizsla, cause life's to short to hunt with an ugly dog! :D RIP Tilly monster. (Attila) 2004-2017.

Ghost bear there are a lot of people in this state that are very uninformed regarding hunting. To us it would be common sense but the general public it may not be. Telling people to wear safety orange during open hunting seasons and outfitting their dogs the same way could possibly prevent these issues in the future. Or even better would be to educate people on how to avoid hunters all together during hunting seasons. I am in no way making an excuse for the hunter that killed the dog but accidents and mistakes do happen. A moment of poor decision making and failure to properly identify his target is currently causing a family a lot of heart ache. Plus if getting some folks educated is the families way of coping and bringing themselves closure then I think that is great. Far better then her going on an all out assault on our hunting privileges. Her initial post seems to be made out of sadness and anger and that is understandable but it now seems like she is calmed down and realizes that villinizng all hunters is not the proper course of action and won't bring back her dog.

. She seems to be all about "know your target" which I fully support and why I despise the "brown it's down" mentality. This woman may have restored my faith in humanity.
