Really! How cheap can you get. Pretend its a new cellphone.Handouts,handouts,where does it stop.

It's called a recruiting tactic... fishing and hunting license sales are down. This gives people an opportunity to try out fishing without a financial burden in hopen they will enjoy it and purchase a fishing license in the future. This isn't a handout it's an opportunity

I probably could pass on buying my license and stamp next year.  I end up only going for a day or two before getting discouraged, anyway.

I get that this about promoting fishing but I dont like that they added a free fishing day to the fall. Now everyone will trying to catch the freshly larger stocked fall trout. Too many killem and grillems out there.

The Division has offered a free fishing day in summer and fall for as long as I can remember. I know at Shanons Fly Shop we always get large groups every year of women fly anglers from around the north east who take advantage of the free fishing day here in New Jersey. That group of ladies has been coming for many years now and spends lots of money in the state during that trip. But it also gets families out fishing who then enjoy the experience and purchase a license.

Im all for it but just more catch and release and less catch and kill. Im sure these ladys are probably all C&R
