Portable Cell Phone Power Banks........

I think this was posted a few months ago.

Looking into getting one of these cell phone power banks, so I have a full charge battery at all times for my cell phone while hunting, but with so many to pick from, which one do I purchase?

I don't need to spend a lot of money

What features do I look for?

How long does it take to re-charge my cell phone?

How many charges do I get from it?

I own about a half dozen of these:

https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=15120

There is a grid at the bottom of the page that will help you determine which one fits your needs.

Things to consider:

  1. Most of the higher-end phones need 2.0 amps or greater to charge.  All tablets need 2.0 amps to recognize that it's charging.  Always check to see the amperage output of the USB ports before you buy.
  2. Cold weather will reduce battery life, so bigger is better if you need to charge your phone.
  3. 2.4 amps is the most power a phone will draw and that amperage will charge your phone the fastest.
  4. Battery capacity dictates how many charges you get out of it.  Bigger devices will drain the battery faster.
  5. Buy more than one because it takes a long time for a large battery to recharge (overnight).

Again, I like the Monoprice stuff.  I've been buying all sorts of stuff from them for years, and they stand behind their products.

I had several and I keep on buying them as they go bad in about a year. I don't use them until hunting season starts and then I can't do without it. The cell phone I my life line so I don't want to end up without power because I surfed the net too much while sitting in the stand, when I get on trouble. They are cheap enough not to have one.

Damn I didn't realize this was such a thought out topic. I have a closet of them my company gives out for free at engineering lunch and learns. I got a nice one as a gift last year from radio shack and it charges a dead iPhone to 100% in 15 mins. Prob get 1.5 charges out of it. I looked it up when I got it and it went for $65 then.

Good question... I've been making a list of things i'm going to need for my up  coming Mountain Lion hunts... Driving Around Arizona and New Mexico the last couple of days and seeing the vast amount of space I think ima probably gonna have to do some bivouacking.. Some extra battery power may come in handy..

Then you need something like this:  https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Charger-PowerPort-iPhone-Galaxy/dp/B012YUJJM8/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1502283077&sr=8-5&keywords=solar+panel+phone+charger

There's so much daylight in those parts that it would be a shame not to take advantage of it.  Throw this on the back of your pack and keep your phone charged overnight. I have one of these for the boat because you never know.  Packs compact.
