Aborted Trip

Recommended Posts

Had the truck and 5th wheel camper all packed, wife and kids in.  Started out on I-80 and I noticed a shimmy in the steering at about 60 mph, about 10 miles into the trip.  Look in the side view and see one of the rear trailer tires wobbling.  Get off the highway and feel the hub, red hot on both sides.  I turned around and headed home. I think I made a good decision.  I don't think I would have made it 3.5 hours, up to Lake Ontario.  Agree?

A bearing repair is much better than a boogered up Axel!

U aint Kidding... I "boogered up" an axil on a 53' semi trailer about as year ago.. They had to cut the Hub off and then weld a new one on.. $4500 including two  tires that had to be replaced after I dragged them a mile or two when the axil froze  up.. .. The good news is I didn't have to pay for any of it.. It wasn't my trailer.. :eyebrow:

:D
