What do these apps do different then if I just go online with my phone?

 

These types of programs are basically made specifically for forum browsing. They are optimized to be more efficient and "tuned" for forum browsing, whereas a device's web browser displays the site for what it is unless there is a mobile version of the site available to display instead.
