Aruba fishing

Got away on a vacation with the wife for this past week. Of course I had to fish some since I was away in a place I never been before. I got up at the crack of light half of the days I was there so I could walk the beaches and fish for snook. I missed 6 or 8 that blew up on the top water but never got it. Finally caught one decent one. Saw a monster one the last morning that I guess would have been around 20 lbs. Also caught some small barracuda and snapper. Water was unbelievable clear and the snook were spooky.

Good to know! I am going there for first time with my Fiance, (yep) in February. I wasn't going ot bring a rod, but damn you John, how can I not do that now???

I can tell by the silver color to that snook it must have been clear water.

Thanks for sharing

Jack bring one for sure. I will tell you where and what I learned there. I have a friend that has been going for 15 years and likes fishing himself too but never brings a rod. He said he sees a few people fishing but never catch any... I told him I WILL CATCH. Edited by Buck154

I seen what you did to the shad after I handed you a dart, a sinker, and 2 minutes of instruction. Not only did you hook up before me, the student passed the teacher by on the first session!

All my non-fishing friends have accused me of being able to catch fish in an empty bathtub - you can catch fish in a glass of water!

Fiance???

Congratulations Jack.

Or is this old news and I'm just asleep at the wheel?

Thanks - word is just starting to get out. I had a containment strategy and told family members in the proper order. Technically happened 6/22... 1 year anniversary of our first date. No rush - 3 year plan...

I did book a guide trip with the only flats fishing guide on the island for bonefish and tarpon. http://www.flyfishingaruba.com/ ... good guy but bad condition for fly fishing when we went out. Wind was blowing 15-25mph. Not good for fly fishing. Saw 3 bonefish and probably 15 small tarpon. Tarpon were under the mangroves and was tough. Had one or two go after the fly but missed. That's fishing
