What Do You Prefer ......

For deer and bear hunting, 12ga or 20ga?

 

For me the last 10 years I prefer the 20ga for both game. Today's 20ga slug gun and slugs have made great strides and in my opinion is just as effective as the 12ga minus the recoil

I don't bear hunt, but for deer I love my single shot 20ga H&R with lightfield slugs.

I never had a 20ga, so I can't compare, but my 12ga hasn't seen daylight since I began using a muzzleloader.  The 12ga has quite a kick compared to the mzldr.

I have both 20 and 12 h&rs but I never could put my 12ga down, I love that gun. If I only had one gun to hunt both bear and deer with it would be my 12 ga h&r

I use 12 Ga for deer hunting in nj but 20 is more than enough for both and you don't get beat up sighting it in

I bought a 20ga Youth model 1100 for my boys when they were young. Bought a Hastings rifled barrel for them.

 

Just never stopped using it. I bought a slip-on recoil pad, just to bring out the length-of-pull a bit.
