IGNORED

Baltimore Oriole

Recommended Posts

I never could get any goo pictures of this bird because they tend to hand high in the tree canopy. On Friday I realized they were nesting in my back yard, on a hanging oak branch about 25' up.

So this morning I grabbed my climbing sticks and tree stand in an attempt to get to their level. I ended about 5' lower but good enough. I covered myself with camo netting and it worked. They ignored me and went about their business of feeding their young. The female was at the nest about 6 time for ever one time male got there but I did see him chasing away Blue Jays and Grackles.

You have. They are very common in NJ but since they stay high, most people see it but don't see anything special.

Very true.  I'm sure you would recognize their call Buck154, they are extremely common, but Orioles spend most of their time up in the canopy where you don't notice them.

Lunatic I admire the things that you will do to get great pictures.
