Had to be the best day I've ever had.  And both my kids were with me.  Twenty-five total timbers.  Only one copperhead, which eluded the camera.  Thirty-four total snakes over six different species.  Today should be my last day of the season ..................

Now that's cool to see. I keep wanting to get up north and look for them. Timbers are cool looking. The last one Eastern Hognose has a deformity on his tail and splits? Never seen one like that.

If you look close the tail is just curled around tightly, it's shaped normally.

You are right. Getting old and can't see as good now  .  It is a tricky picture if you see it the other way first with split tail  . Thanks. Took me a little bit to see how the tail was setting on top.
