looking for opinions on new hand gun purchase

I should be receiving my permits form State police soon and I am thinking long and and hard on how to use them....

 

I have it down to two weapons:

 

Sig 229 scorpion elite in 40 sw cal

 

Ruger Super blackhawk in 44 mag

 

The Sig would replace my EDC weapon and see more use over the Ruger would be used for deer/bear hunting out of state. But I do love 44 mag.

Have you fired each gun in that caliber?  That's how I'd make my decision.  How is the recoil?  Does it affect your ability to get back on target and fire the second round?  How is your shot placement with each?  How does it feel in your hand?

 

There are a few ranges that will rent firearms at a reasonable price.  I'd road test both.

It comes down to Drive it before you buy it. today that is so easy as most Pistol ranges Rent Handguns Long Guns. The walls are full of many for you to make that decision.

^^^^ what they said ...... Always try them out before hand but sometimes your just want one "Because" regardless , I to want a 44 but decided on the S & W 629 PC when my permits come in. Good Luck with your Search

I have fired both guns. Benifits from active club. Now to add to the confusion I saw my LGS has sale on Marlin guild gun in 4570,,,,,lol

well the Marlin 1895 45-70 SS guild gun came home with me! I picked up box of federal box ammo. heading to range on Saturday.
