19 Jumbo Shad in 3 hours near Dingman's Ferry

Hit the Delaware just below Dingman's Bridge with ASFTAX and destroyed the Shad. Caught some up to 6 lbs all on flutter spoons. The coolest thing was how ASFTAX set up his boat to utilize 2 planer boards he made specifically for catching shad. Both boards were attached to a spooled mast welded to the front of the boat. Clips were used to walk each line down so we could have 4-6 lines going at the same time. When they hit it was fast and furious and at one point we had two lines going at the same time. I have to say it was an ingenious system that did not tangle one time. What brought the flutter spoon to the correct depth was an attached shad rap plug with the hooks removed positioned above the spoon..I tried to post some pics of the setup below.

Haven't fished for shad like this ever and it is amazing how strong the bigger Roe are when they run. Each time they saw the boat they would take off again just when you thought they were in the net lol. Other than a canoe group launching from Dingman's, there was no other boats fishing anywhere near us.

Just a planer mast and boards that they use for trolling on big water which is pretty much what you are doing anchored for shad with the river providing the trolling speed. The set up lets you cover more water that's for sure. Nice fish. They are a blast.

The fish were about to jump in fear, then they saw the socks and sandals and just swam away sadly shaking their heads.
