One of the young guys I play hockey with went for it about 4 years ago. He qualified, when through the academy, got a job and within a year he was and still is working for Verizon. He told me the pay sucks, the job sucks and it was a waste of his time.
My hat is off to guys who do it.

I tried to talk both of my son's into Law Enforcement. Had family working for the Union County Sheriffs Dept. so they had a foot in the door already. Today they are both kicking themselves in the ass.  Hey believe it or not the Old Man is a little smarter than you.

And the guys that are hired this year will, in 21 years say, "Boy it was good when we started, Thank God I have 4 years till I retire" lol  They will also say, " now when we went thru the academy it was tough, you guys have a cake walk now" lol

And the guys that are hired this year will, in 26 years say, "Boy it was good when we started, Thank God I have 4 years till I retire" lol  Actually, something has got to turn around this continual "take away" of benefits.  We always said that we will never get rich in law enforcement, but a least we have secure and great benefits.
