Best deer sled.

I have never used one.  I guess I should look into it but I have always just dragged my deer out or butchered them in the field.

NXT Shot Versacart.  Not cheap, but they work great.  They tow uphill too with tilted wheels and don't tip over.

yes, it does get caught on the bushes but breaks away quickly

Are those bars really necessary?   I was looking at them for my sled and couldn't believe how expensive the were, the dang bars cost almost as much as the sled.  Then I thought, do I really need them unless I'm dragging over rocks?  Curious to see what people who have them think.

I have a long narrow plastic toboggan style sled. It doesn't work well dragging a deer because of it being narrow it is difficult to strap the carcass on in a fashion that antlers and legs don't stick out. The result is the appendages get caught on sapplings and such. On the up side the lenghth allows be to hook the front lip of the sled on the tailgate of my truck and easily lift the deer into the bed.

Personally would recommend a deer cart instead, check out the guide on Catchthemeasy if you're considering buying one.

 

If you want to save some cash then you could always just make your own on the cheap.

This deer weighed at least 300 maybe 350 and I pulled it out with one hand up hill both ways thanks to my Jet Sled!

perhaps...... but nothing beats the kind of full body workout you get from dragging a deer out the old fashioned way. Build up some mean strength, endurance and muscle in new places after dragging out a deer and having a big dinner. There is joy in doing such a thing.
