Stevo, I used Hornady 240 grain HP XTP and it worked like a charm I got my slug back and they expanded very well and I would not hesitate to use them on any critter. 

 

PSEhunter, as far as I know you can hunt in NY state with a pistol but best thing to do is check with the wardens to be sure. Its unfortunate that Cumo has made it so difficult for honest Americans while doing nothing to prevent real criminals from using weapons to hurt others. But again, you can't fix stupid.
