Few bass tonight

Managed a few bass Saturday, perch and crappie, this bass being the largest. Water at surface was 39 degrees.

smallmouth or largemouth is outstanding eating. many people see them as a catch and release. but are great eating. i enjoy making sandwhiches with them. enjoy haskell

Large and small are good eating...but you need them in the mid size range to justify eating them. The ones he had on the stringer are a good size. I prefer largemouth over any other fresh water fish besides channel catfish. Eating bass is kind of frowned upon but I don't give a dam lol. Tastes good to me!! I usually throw the large ones back and keep the 12-15 inch range fish. You need to take some bass out of a lake for the big ones to grow and have less competition for food, otherwise you get a bunch of tiny ones....
