New Shooter - Dominant Eye Question

So, my daughter (15 yo) wants to start hunting.  I took her out shooting and she's a pretty good shot.  She's right handed, but clearly left eye dominant.  When shooting from the bench, she kept moving her head to the other side of the scope to see the target.  Has anyone run into this?  Shoot I teach her to shoot lefty?  Or, should I just get her to work on using her right eye....

I'm right handed, left eye dominant.  I shoot all long-guns left handed, just feels natural.  Pistols right handed, but I shoot them with both eyes open.  Let her decide what she feels most comfortable with, she will enjoy it more and be a better shot for it.

Eye dominance should take precedence, otherwise she'll not be able to shoot any type of firearm with both eyes open, same goes for a bow with sights.

Switch her now before it's too late, I'm a righty shooter with a dominant left eye, it's been a PIA for years closing one eye, not to mention the loss of field of view.

I write left. Throw right. Kick left. Swing a bat or club, right. Started shooting bow right, did the eye dominace test, bought my first bow, lefty.

I would think that the shooter, (your daughter) should be able to tell you, which side she is most comfortable with.

If she is righty make her shoot righty. Eye dominance won't make her any better as a lefty shooter.

Agree however, the most important thing is her comfort level.  You could try getting a patch for her left eye.  With a lot of shooting she will build up her right eye to be the dominant eye.  The only downside is that it takes a lot of shooting to do so.

From someone who is left eye dominant but shoots right hand please while she is young have here start shooting lefty gradually. Will save her a lot of problems later if she was ever to get into some of the shooting sports like skeet, trap, sporting clays, or just hunting in general where most will shoot both eyes open like for upland or duck hunting. She will enjoy her time afield a lot more as it will be more natural to her once she get's use to the change

I'm lefty right eye dominant. Have her go with what feels better.
