I was bored today over my parents house digging around and found this piece of history. When did the state stop using these?

I'm not nearly old enough to have hunted during the button period, but I do miss different colored licenses each year.  I have collected every fishing and hunting license I have ever purchased in every state, and now they are typically either green (NJ) or yellow like NY every single year.  And stamps are a thing of the past as well.....

Have a photo somewhere with My Grandfather and Father with one pinned to their Hats.  The pins are lost

I have every license from 1976 to present. I think I have one that says Hunting and Trapping. No Trappers Course back then.

Made of colored heavy duty paper, colors changed each year and my earliest is 1975 (I'm not a youngster like Stevo) and it just says "New Jersey  Resident  Firearm Hunter"  got it at The Sportsman's Den in Piscataway !

That is cool idea! We should go back to that ol' concept and save a tree. Stamps could be in your wallet. State prisons can make them for free.

Yes Sir! Game Warden can run your number for appropriate stamps by iPhone app.

They used to be nice. Cardboard, different colors, nice stamps.  Now I just throw the printed ones away.
