Red Wings Sporting Clays

I am looking for any experience with Red Wings (not those kind), I am thinking of setting up a trip and possibly a fundraiser in the future if they are able to hold these type of events. I have reached out and am waiting for a response. If you have gone and want to share your experience please do.

Its a good place to go. I have shot it several times. They do have fundraisers and events there. The NJOA event was there a couple years ago. They are only open from fall into spring and then the campground opens.

I haven't been to Red Wings (didn't even know that existed - I might have to check that place out one day) but I have done shooting clays at Quinton Sportsmen's Club. So I can't speak to Red Wings specifically but sporting clays in general is a LOT of fun. Different presentation of the clays at each station, and each station itself is just a different look. Very fun.

 

But for a fundraiser or a large group the one bad thing is that the whole group won't be together - you get split up into small groups. Might not be a big deal, but sometimes you'd want to be together as a whole group for the whole day. It is like a golf outing - only a small group (2 to 4 people) are together throughout since you all are at different stations together.

 

An alternative would be 5-stand - which is just like sporting clays only the whole group is together and 5 people are shooting per round. Telco has recently added this: http://www.telcosportsmensclub.com/images/5stand/5stand.htm

 

Now, the problem with THAT is only 5 people are shooting at a time, with the rest waiting their turn (unlike sporting clays where everyone is on the course shooting at the same time - albeit separated into small groups). But if everyone wants to be together as a group during the day and don't have to all be shooting at the same time, that's an alternative.

 

Anyway, not sure if I am saying anything you don't already know.
