If this is your first hunting dog and you can afford it, I strongly recommend hiring a professional trainer.  I like the trainers that want you to come and work with your dog under their care, not the ones where you ship you dog to them and get the dog back months later where you have learned nothing yourself.  Those types of trainers are fine if you are an experienced dog handler and don't have time to train a new pup yourself.  Just my two cents.

N.A.V.H.D.A is a good place to start North American versatile hunting dog association. They put on training clinics and run trials, the trials are against a set of standards, not against the other dogs, so it's not unheard of for an entire brace to get prize 1. As a result folks are friendlier towards others and happy to help, check them out.

Hunt with a Vizsla, cause life's to short to hunt with an ugly dog! :D RIP Tilly monster. (Attila) 2004-2017.
