Going Out For Yodel Dogs On Thursday.

Nice!

Think about your setups before you get to your spots!

I've been thinking about where to set up. There's some woods that overlooks two cut soybean fields. I'm not sure if I should sit on top or go part way down the hill. There is also a bunch of tall pine trees that surrounds a soup bowl right in the middle of the property. There used to be an old coyote den inside there but, there hasn't been any activity near it in a few years. I'll have to check the wind as well. I'm new to this. In fact, tomorrow is my first time going out exclusively for them. It'll be a learning experience.

Walk the perimeter a day or 2 before you want to hunt and check for fresh sign on dirt roads or any muddy spots

The woods that overlook 2 soybean fields....

Where do you believe coyotes would enter the field? Do they have to circle to enter?

High is always good but not if the coyotes are coming out where you want to set up...

Rifle - I'd sit a corner for a long shot...

Shotgun- close to the cover....

They seem to be crossing a creek from an old apple orchard in between some houses and then come up a hill into the lower part of the soybean field. I'll try to post a trail camera photo.

In this photo, the coyotes seem to come up from the bottom of the soybean field from the houses. I was thinking about setting up about a 100 yards up from where the coyotes come up the field. Where I would set up would be the same side but, in the woods up on a hill. Hopefully, it will work.

I think that the wind will be coming across the field into my face. Should I stay on top of the hill or go part way down? I don't know if they will try to come through the woods behind me or not. They have never been hunted before on this farm.
