Spitfire..tighter blade retention clips?

Just picked up a pack of the spitfire xxx 2" broad heads for turkey season. The blades retention clips seem to hold the blades much tighter than the older spits. Anyone else notice this with the newer nap spitfires?

 

I'm almost nervous about penetration they are so tight. Might be using my trusty st mags.

If it were me Id go with the slick tricks anyway. If the spits are that tight Id be nervous as well, but maybe someone who has used these will chime in. I though the old ones were too tight to begin with,

I used spits for like 7 years before switching to slicks 4 years ago and they were not this tight back then. Wouldn't hesitate to use these from a fast crossbow but I'm shooting a 60lb 28in draw no cam.

I shot 2 deer with Spitfires where the broadheads didnt open, lost both deer but found the arrows with unopened broadheads.... Needless to say I never used them again...

I used the Spitfires this year with my crossbow.  Great heads, great results.  The retention clip is tight, and it's kinda flimsy...after a few shots into a target it may get pushed out by the foam build up and then just gets all jacked up on a subsequent shot.  Fine for hunting (new head or a replaced blade/clips head), but for repeated practice, they require some attention to keep them clean shot to shot.

I haven't shot them yet. Did some research and on Archery talk there is a thread where people are recommending to use the supplied tiny screw driver and bend the bubble on the retention clip so there is less resistance. I just tried it on one and it seems to open easier.

 

I'll probably give the rest to my dad since that's all he shoots and stick with my slick tricks. Thanks everyone for the input.

Shot 3 deer with a SpitFire Maxx Crossbow head this year; 2 dropped real close, the other I stuck in the shoulder and lived to read this post, lol. A friend of mine recommended Grim Reaper X-bow razor tips which I am going to try. To me, it looks like a higher quality SpitFire and the Trocar point is a bit more exposed for penetration.
