Good day to make another porter

Gotta get myself a few Big mouth bubblers and start my 2017 brewing season going. I think a Marzen is 1st on tap.

Not an easy beer to make.  We have a lagering fridge with a pretty accurate temp regulator that helps.  I've actually toasted some 2-row to get a nice flavor in it, came out well.

Sapere aude.

Audeamus.

Hask,

I'm on it. I run a Ranco on my fermentation fridge. Made a real nice Vienna Lager last year that I'm going to make again as well. Alot quicker to make my ales but

sure is nice to have a Lager on tap!

You have a good Marzen recipe you want to share?

Prost!

5 lbs Aromatic Malt (20.0 SRM)
5 lbs Munich Malt (9.0 SRM)
4 lbs Pilsner (2 Row) Ger (2.0 SRM)
4 lbs Vienna Malt (3.5 SRM)
3 lbs Pale Malt (2 Row) US (2.0 SRM)
2.50 oz Hallertauer [4.80 %] - First Wort 60.0 min
1.00 oz Hallertauer [4.80 %] - Steep/Whirlpool 10.0 min
1.0 pkg German Bock Lager (White Labs #WLP833)

Yields 12 gallons of wort, 10 gallons of beer.  Do you need the mash steps?

Follow the yeast temps. and lager for as long as you feel like it.  I'd say 2-3 months.

I'll probably revisit this recipe this year because I haven't made it in about 5 years.  But since you've mentioned it, I think it might have to be added to the brew schedule this summer for a late Sept tapping.
