Black Bear Taxidermy repair

Jfoster99

Recommended Posts

I have a nice little 15 year old Black Bear I would like to get repaired. He has taken a few boot kicks to the noise over the years and his coat has thinned out a bit.. He is almost exactly 5-0' from the tip of his nose to the tail bump.

Any info on the following would be greatly appreciated.

What is he worth?

About how much can I expect to pay to fix nose and add some fur?

Where is a good taxidermist in North Jersey.( Bergan)

I don't have a Tag. This bear was raised on pure maple syrup from Canada. I got some sort of official looking paperwork from Customs when it was imported.

Contact the taxidermist who mounted it, he may have kept records of hunting license and tag info. If you can obtain that you can have it fixed. Without it, most taxidermist will not take possession of it, including myself... sorry.

Side note never thought of that I'll make sure to keep tags from whatever I will/had mounted [emoji106]

Any mount with an unfinished back I write the tag # or staple the tag to it...

Bear rugs are finished everywhere so there is nowhere to attach it...

can you repair bald spots on a new bear mount.   Bare patch under arm very visible - the taxidermist painted it black but there is no hair and the seam is visible

It is best to put a patch on a mount before it is mounted and not after.  Almost anything can be done and is possible taxidermy wise, but the more difficult the job is the more it will cost you.
