Some nice Channel Cats from the Delaware

They fight like blue fish, honestly that's my favorite bait for catfish chunks of blue fish or bunker. The blue fish is so oily the fresh water looks like the Exxon vialdiz oil spill when the oily meat hits the water .

Look like a lot of fun but I thought catfish were a warm season fish. Didn't know you could have good fishing for them in the winter.

I fish for shad at the Gap, from shore, almost exclusively and I always have a "worm" pole out for the channels.

Parasites I was told by a NY DEC officer I asked. I caught a lot of walleyes with them and channel cats. Red swollen sores are likely lamprey eels.

Posting this for my buddy Tony (ASFTAX on here)  who is having an issue with his computer. He and a couple of guys are doing well on the Delaware River near the Gap catching Channel Catfish. They have ranged from 3 lb fish to 13 lb cats, with some caught today and in the last few weeks.  Planning on going with my son when we get some time as well.

JIGGING RAPALAS RIGHT OFF THE BOTTOM, WE ARE TARGETING WALLEYE ,THE CATS ARE A BONUS GREAT EATING THOUGH ,.5 FISH LIMIT IS A BUNCH

OF FILLETS WHEN THEY AVERAGE 8LBS.

Man this topic makes me wanna go catfishing! Used to do it all the time as a kid, haven't in many years! I used to fish from shore and leave an open bail, fold a small twig over the line and wait for it to get launched in the air like a rocket when a catfish grabbed the bait and started running!
