Zone 7

A herd of 20-25 is a good sign...I haven't seen a big herd like that at my Z7 spot in about 10 years.

Nice to hear.

A couple weeks ago there were at least 60 in a corn field 1/4 mile from this property. I drove by and my jaw dropped. I haven't seen a herd like that in that area in quite a while.

I was in zone 7, on a mountain on Saturday afternoon.  Didn't even see tree rats, just birds . . .

Man, my "herds" are no more than 8-10 on a good day - good luck to you!!

This property is really strange with the way the deer move through it.  There seems to be no rhyme or reason at all.  One day they move up the mountain in the morning, the next day they'll move down the mountain in the morning.  Sometimes it's left to right, sometimes right to left.  Really strange and impossible to pattern them up here.  Very little hunting pressure and an abundance of food sources lets them do as they please

Late season they tend to herd up pretty well. Last year I hunted one afternoon and there were about 35 in the herd when they passed by my stand.  Like I said, there were at least 60 in a field down the road.  Unfortunately I don't have permission to hunt there

I'm hoping to get out again this week and get another crack at them

Time to leave the does alone

Meh..I've killed one deer this year.  1 doe.  I let every single young buck walk and haven't killed an antlered deer in 5 years now because I won't shoot immature bucks and I'm playing a chess game with a handful of mature bucks and right now they're winning.

The deer population is good in this area and taking a late season doe is not a big deal.

That's great to hear.  I haven't hunted my zone 7 property in quite a few years because it was so bad.
