I don't know hawk identification real well, Sharpshin? I had a redtail chase one like in your pic right to me while on stand last fall, slategray back like that. Hung out for a minute then zoomed away down through the trees a hundred miles an hour, amazingly fast

without me, my rifle is nothing

Peregrine falcon.  They fly over 70 miles per hour when they hit their prey.  We had a guy talk to us about them from the raptor trust.  He said along the bridges over the hudson river they hit duck and pigeons so hard in mid air that they kill them on impact-pretty impressive.

They are actually much faster in a dive. They are the fastest animal on the planet and do dive after their prey in speeds exceeding 300MPH/ They can fly around up to 70MPH
