Yet Another Use For Rendered Bear Fat . . .

Lip Balm, yep I made my first batch last night.  Winged it and I am happy with the results, however, next time I think I am going to add a little more beeswax and a little less of the butter and oils.  By the way, it's the Red Raspberry Seed Oil and the Carrot Seed oil that give it a 30 spf.

definitely what I want on my womans' lips

Have you read the ingredients that's in the store bought lip balms?  Can you even pronounce all of the ingredients? This is probably about 25% bear tallow and the remaining 75% is all natural butters and oils which contain healing properties that can not be reproduced chemically.

i saw a show where they slathered it on a squirrel and cooked it, have you tried that? I have a ton of squirrel.

No, I haven't tried cooking with it yet, but only because I was so determined to see what useful products I could make from it. Lipstick is next . . .

I love this.  Keep making great stuff like this.

We don't buy anything with lists of ingredients.  Food is food.  If it comes in a box or bag with a list of ingredients, it isn't food.

Same goes for what you put on your body.  We use organic expeller pressed coconut oil on our skin.  Not lotions or potions. We use Dr. Bronners natural soaps to wash our hands and in the shower.  Lip balms are usually Badger brand or Burts bees.  All natural stuff.

I was actually being serious for once. I seldom if ever put anything on my own lips. I do all my own butchering/processing and for the last couple years I haven't added any domestic livestock meat or fat to make sausage, breakfast and Italian, or burger. I made some of the best breakfast sausage ever this past season using bear meat and bear fat. And if I remember correctly, you did a give away on your last bear tallow project, I can't imagine your going to use all that lip balm in a lifetime, so I was just getting first in line. Too presumptuous?

without me, my rifle is nothing

I am so sorry, as I mis-read your response.  Thought you said it's not what you would want on your woman's lips. I must be having a blond day, lol

I only got 25 out of my first batch and I think I can do better with the next batch.  But, yes, when I have more and am 100% happy with the results, I will do another giveaway . . .
