Yesterday caught a glimpse of movement in Hedge Row behind my house Keep in mind this is by far wild but pretty well populated 1/2 acres housing.. when I saw a flock of Turkeys just wandering. Now was my chance to try the Turkey call app. on my laptop.  First I tried the assembly call the first time i called they went nuts and came running into my yard   and just stood there when I hit it again they approached within 25 feet just out side my 3 ft garden fence bewildered. As I stood up to take some photos they slowly walked to front of house into the street and began to make their way yard to yard. I walked down 2 house to where they were pecking around and took more photos I got to within 8 feet and closer. No BS. There are 100s of these Turkeys all around my town and surrounding towns they have no Fear whatsoever when in the roadways they will not move and might even fake attack.as they do when you come upon them in your yard or driveway.

Notice the colorations of the Hens from Buff brown to mixed whites The Male remains natural coloration. NJDFAG considers these as hybreds and trap and kills them throw only to throw in Trash. as they have done here many times in the past year and if they find any nests they destroy the eggs. I had a nest in my yard that had 14 eggs in it and the eggs disappeared one day I have a Chinese Neighbor :letsparty:   Heard they get up to $20. per.for them in NY.  Any way no matter how hard they try to rid them from mixing with the Wild one seems not to be working.

I have had thoughts of Making use of them but fear the $$$$ and  Jail time is not worth it.

Before you know it they will be like Pigeons just better Tasting ;)

Note--- Besides rounding up and destroying just Turkeys They do the same with The Geese by herding them into a Box Truck and gassing them and dumping them Where is Pita and the tree huggers on This one   :headscratch:

The lighter colored birds should be taken out more easily by predators shouldn't they? They should just let nature run its course. Just my opinion.

Not much in predators is this area only house cats and rumors of Coyotes.Hawks &  Local poachers take a few.  If they did not do the controls as being done now that flock would be 20 -30 birds and I have seen them in those numbers just 3 years ago. Think of it the hens can lay up to 15 eggs the nest at my house had 12 there were 11 hens in that flock you do the math with no predators but NJDFAG. I know of many areas that have flock's in my township let alone the Counties of Monmouth Ocean Union Middlesex do any of the posters here see them in any other counties?

Time to trap and relocate, I know of one area that's been wiped out by bobcats. Used to be sick with turkey, haven seen a single bird or track in 3 years there.

Hunt with a Vizsla, cause life's to short to hunt with an ugly dog! :D RIP Tilly monster. (Attila) 2004-2017.

And to think I haven't found a public land spot for turkeys yet lmao. We have a nice flock in the little suburban corporate complex I work in that travels to neighborhoods here in Orangeburg NY

If you got coons, you got predators. Especially for turkey eggs

May I suggest a Gamo 1000 fps pellet to the head?  Seriously, this state is a mess.  We have an abundance of wildlife where we can't hunt.  No joke F&G should come up with some means of harvesting some of them legally in urbanized areas.  What a waste of a resource.  Nice pics by the way and thanks for sharing.
