Meat grinder ???

Recommended Posts

OK so I'm in the market to buy a meat grinder to proccess my own deer. I never realized how many different kinds there is...What's everyone using for deer and opinions on what's at good reliable grinder?? I'll be using it on 2-3 deer a year (if lucky) , I'd like to make sausage and snack sticks with it, I want something that will last for a few years but I'm not looking to spend $400+ on one..Any suggestions??

If you plan on doing a few deer a year . It's worth watching for when cabelas does a close out on their grinders.

Their 3/4 horse is a great grinder . And will last two lifetimes .

You can make sausage with a grinder but snack sticks are tough .

Your better off adding a sausage stuffer for making both sausage and sticks instead of trying to use attachments on a grinder.

They aren't cheap either but the really make the tasks a lot easier.

For longevity , I have done at least 5-6 deer a year with my cabelas grinder, some years many more than that.

And it's been trouble free for over twenty years

Agree this is the one I have. It is a beast and very well made.

The 3/4 is def more than enough.

The one I have is actually the one horse that I bought on sale over 20 years ago.

I got lucky and bought a used 1 3/4 horse about four years ago that does a deer in about 3 minutes, n

But only bring it out when doing a few at the same time with friends .

They come apart easy , and clean up fast .

Also use the smaller machine to grind up all our turkey legs for making turkey meatloaf .

Only draw back to either machine is they are heavy to move around.

Def money well spent

i have had a 1/3hp LEM with a #8 neck for about 15 years.

i put 5-10 deer through it each year.

great machine,

i have a foot pedal for it also. helps keep it cold, by stopping when not grinding.

Not for nothing but I bought a harbor freight ship to shore meat grinder. I paid $53 dollars for it four years ago, at this point I have run 32 deer through it and still going like a champion. I even use it for my dog food which is the hardest nasty stuff a deer has to offer even the throats. Little loud but goodness 32 deer and still going.

Not a complete a$$ hole just one of the dingle berries that hang off it.

If you want to please the old lady buy her a Kitchen aid and yourself the grinder/ pasta attachment. I use this for making small batches at frequent intervals, for grinding a lot I use my cabella's 1/2 hp, they didn't have the 3/4 hp at the time.  Been using for more than 10 years.

I bought a Cabelas Carnivore last year. Has a bunch of available attachments. Works great. I have the mixer and the jerky slicer attachments. Both of which work great. Grinder comes with snack stick and sausage stuffing parts. Processing equipment is usually on sale this time of year too.

Those smaller grinders will do the job .

I used the small one on my food processor for a few years.

But using a grinder with a small neck takes way too long for my liking.

I personally don't want to stand there grinding for a half hour, when I can double grind my whole batch in about 3 minutes .
