Came across this product, its cheap and small.$29 and there's now monthly or activation fees. Though some of you might need these.

Put it inside your camera, unscrew the case open it up and put it in where it can't been seen

Ahh ok. What they need to do is integrate that into the design of the camera.

The cynic in me would rather see the cameras explode shrapnel if taken off the tree by someone whose fingerprints don't match up.

Interesting product.  The only limitation is that it only works when it's within range of the app.  It uses Bluetooth to get its GPS location and to communicate back to the servers.  If it's not within range of the app, it won't track at all.

It states that using the "Crowd GPS" app it works worldwide if it is in range of anyone's device

Bluetooth range is only 100'. If and only if someone else has an app within range of it, your gps will be updated.

Yes, someone else with the tracking  APP would have to come within 100 FT of it to ping it's location to the APP if you're not that close

I wonder about developing a virus and planting it in my camera's memory card that will send the IP adddess and other information of anyone who loads the memory card in their device

I have a "tile" in my wallet that uses crowd Bluetooth as well and I lost my wallet once and was able to get it back so I guess I can vouch for the crowd Bluetooth idea
