I had shot this NJ mz deer a few years back. I was getting ready to start the drag and heard some leaves crunching. I see this dog comming from down wind. As he closes in he seems friendly and comes right to me wagging his tail. After a few seconds it was obvious we were friends now. He goes over and sniffs the gut pile. Then he walks around the deer and and sticks his head in a few times taking a bite each time lol!! Its was cool to watch, glad I had a cam in pocket. Then I dragged the deer to my truck and he followed along. He hung out while I loaded up and watched me drive away.

Ruger, I had never seen the dog before. There are scattered house in the area. I got a pic of him on a cam a few years later and he was a bit heavier.

2 Years ago at one spot I climbed down and was walking over to a deer down and saw 2 german shepards running up the hill towards me and the deer. I didn't know if they were friendly or not so grabbed by bear spray but when they got to about 30 yards or so with my yelling at them they ran away.

Congradulations on the nice buck.

I would have never let him touch the deer, once an animal starts chewing on deer you risk bacteria from the animals saliva contaminating your hard earned trophy.
