TroutandBucks
Nice picture of the dog hunting! Are they getting wild quail down there because of all the stocking they do? AWM #
hage.230
Thanks, he is turning into a nice dog. Kept him from my last litter, he is now two. As far as wild birds I found some in the spring that may have been hold overs but there where a few Field trials that let out over 500 birds in March. The birds I found may have been for that. There is too much hunting pressure on Greenwood. Opening day there where over 80 close to 90 cars in the three parking lots. It was a little hectic. The birds have been good the last two years since the state changed suppliers. The birds where flying well and most where going into the woods when we broke up coveys. Monday we found 3 good size coveys and one small one of about 5 birds. All flew well.

hage.230
Went to Greenwood today found 2 coveys. Was at the last field on the 3rd rd from the north parking and dog went about 100 yards into the heavy woods to the west and when he was about half way back the bell stopped. Had my GPS collar on him which lead me right too him. Took one step ahead of him and a ruff grouse took off. Threw two shots at it but do not think I got my face down on the stock and missed clean. This if the first one I have seen there in over 20 years.

hage.230
Out at Greenwood this morning. Did well with the same dog picture above. Got my 4 quail in about 25 min and had 8 more finds on my way back to the truck. Drove around and counted 76 cars in the 3 parking lots and a few more scattered around, but did not seem crowded. This picture is the father of the dog above, he is four. the picture is from Aug of last year when I was out at My North Dakota house training for a month on wild birds. He has a covey of Hungarian Partridge pinned in a patch of buck brush.
