  3. If im fishing from a boat, is there an advantage to using two handed rods?
  4. Ok, I get it now; how , much line you got out behind you in your backcast would you say, roughly.

Thanks for all the replies and pms I found something.
  6. Isnt Spey basically a 2 handed Flyrod cast though?
  7. Because the line he is using is heavy enough to load the rod so as he goes forward and makes an abrupt stop with the rod up at between 10-11 oclock the energy is release making the line shoot like a rocket. Spey casting uses the water to load the rod and that advantage is used whereas you have no room to backcast. Two different animals here. I do a lot of spey for steelhead and can throw a huge indicator, two flys and a bunch of buckshot sized splitshot with zero casting room behind me, but no need for that on the surf…. Use Bucknbows technique there
  8. Try one last time before it goes to safe for a while.

  10. Neither. I am using a two handed cast. One simple backcast with my leader and 36’ shooting head and I load the rod deeply. Then come forward and release the line fairly high and let it shoot out of your stripping basket.
  11. My two hand setup I’ve had since before Skagit lines showed up in the US. I had Andrew, owner of Tightlines set me up about 17 years ago now with that rod, the CND Oceana
  12. A few years ago I had 4 wheelers running through my woods. Either during the day when I wasn't home or at night when I was but by the time I got a light and some hardware and got there they'd be gone. One day I was working on firewood and I heard them coming through the woods. I grabbed my pickaroon and went running back to where I had heard them. I got in front of them and they stopped and I railed on them for a while and the one guy said that it was a mistake and they wouldn't be back. I don't think it was their first time getting busted but they haven't been back.

  14. Are you spey casting or just double hauling. How are you getting so much distance with 1 back cast?
  15. you dont use an indicator, your basically fishing a lure like a trout streamer. Cant speak for the guys casting 180ft lol .I'm fishing from a boat so dont need to shoot it that far. If you can double haul 100ft your in good shape.
  16. Garden State Bow & Reel, the best around!
  17. I personally only use Garden State Bow & Reel. I think that they tune/set up bows better than all the other shops. All have the same bows, few check timing of each limb/cam. Some paper tune, some do not. In my opinion, these two set up practices are most important. Some food for thought..........from day of manufacture/bow put together to the day of purchase can be more than a year. The strings obviously will stretch to a degree and can be out of timing when brand new.
  18. Beautiful work. I have to finally get to putting a new floor in my old Duranautics, what did you use for deck material and did you coat it? Tks
  19. That is the body of fish we had two weeks ago, still fish down here but smaller pods, will see what happens the next few days
  20. No need to boycott. Do like I do. Shoot your buck when you get your chance and don't shoot any does. I spend more time hunting out of state now. Let them deal with the problem they created.
  21. Leave it to Jacko has to brag 😬
