  2. Got out early yesterday and set up in one of my favorite spots, just getting lite I have gobbles coming from two different directions. I made my first call and they opened up but then I heard yelps coming from just on the property line and knew I had another hunter competing for these birds. I did some lite calling and one of the birds was heading my way and he got behind me, and I continued purrs and he was almost on top of me and no shot unless he comes around. The other hunter shoots and bird gets spooky but stays in there, after a few minutes of silence he starts moving to my front and decides to mount one of my hen decoys. I did not want to shoot and risk pellets in the decoy so waited for him to realize he was not having his way with my decoy and I took the shot, bird goes right down and I got up to go tag and retrieve him. I needed to cut a section of rope to carry him and while I was cutting the rope I slipped and cut through my index finger to the bone. After going to my emergency bag and stopping the bleeding (fingers bleed a lot) I picked up my gear and the bird and went right to the ER. After doc stitches me up I head home with tail between my legs and had to listen to wife give me a lecture about hunting alone. Any now I have a bird to clean and only one good had to get it done. My wife of 53 years for the first time helped me with the bird and we got it done. After it was all done I realized I did not take a picture. Any way the bird with provide turkey burgers for our summer barbecue and when I cook it I will post pictures of Denny's barbecue turkey burgers Now I have to take a week off until hand heals and stitches come out before I go out next week.
  3. What did the duck say when it bought chapstick? “Put it on my bill!”
  4. Great deal. Same one I use
  5. Awesome pics and encounter. They are so cool to see in the wild. Lots of bobcats around. Yesterday, a friend and his nephew called in 2 at once….while another buddy in a different county had one creeping through his backyard right around the same time.
  6. My son likes elevators; my daughter likes escalators. They are raised differently.
  7. Never lost a fishing rod but my Dad broke many rod tips off them closing the trunk on his Chevy Impala.
  8. Absolutely!! BUT......building inspector WILL NOT pass the footings if they have water in them. I said the exact same thing....no go

  10. If the boat brush and pole still available I'll take it.
  11. Buddy and I called in 7 Jake’s this morning . Watched them beat the crap out of my Jake and hen deke for 45 minutes . I know there was a gobbler and hens there but they went the other way . Great show but no long beard . Hit another spot later but quiet .
  12. Basically brand new. I think I used it once. Still have original packaging and instructions. $120. Located in Manasquan 08736.
  13. I bought a Garmin striker 7cv on sat. Spent about two hours running the wires and getting it all hooked up to the boat. Only to realize that the model i bought is a Fish finder only. Does not display maps. Make sure you do your research, now im looking for a second unit that will not be hooked up to a transducer and is only used for navigation. Any recs appreciated.
  14. I could never read all that. I’m a picture guy. Congratulations
  15. I know for a fact they fought against the legalization of crossbows in NJ. . Then they realized 99.9% of their members shoot crossbows also. There are a couple of elitist like sugar that would never. 🤭
  16. So, what you are saying is you killed a turkey😂 Congrats👍🏼
  17. Fishing poles on the roof of the car ,YES , but never missplaced a gun or a bow ! Shit I just ginxed myself !
  18. Hit a new farm this morning called in three hens haven’t heard a Gobble. moved to another spot in a good strut zone nothing so far here either . crazy sitting this morning with heated vest and mid weight jacket now just a sweatshirt that’s too hot
  19. Great post! Same thing here in 15. They went silent 2 yrs ago. The area we hunt the Turkey are super stealth . We have photos of birds and I see them all the time, but limited vocalization. They are definitely call shy. It’s probably a combination of predators, dirt bikers and hunters that has charged some habits. I have been playing around with a mallard duck call. I have a great cluck down and I have pulled in hens with consistency. I have also used a peeping sound on my wood duck call with the same results. This sounds crazy, but I also think the birds stay on the roost longer. I have watched hens sit on some huge pine trees well past sunrise.
  20. Incredible experience and pics! That's a morning to remember for sure!
