Day 2 has been a bust. Other than cleaning out an old swale that leads to my pond, no real progress today getting rid of ground water. It's slowing but not enough. I have the excavator coming back tonight to see if we can dig a drainage ditch along two sides.

I went for a walk around 9 after hearing & seeing nothing in zone 12. I did a quick scan of the power line for birds from 10 yards inside the woodline & sat down against a tree i uually sit when hunting that spot on the low side of a knoll & called a few times. After about 15 minutes, I saw movement in my peripheral vision about 50 yards away on the woods edge on the other side of the power line. I shifted to get ready & quickly saw it was a hunter. He stood up waving & I said "don't shoot" about the same time. If either one of us was trigger happy, it could have gone a whole lot differently. It turns out he had a decoy on the power line just to my left that I couldn't see because I was on the bottom of the knoll. I unknowingly set up right on top of him! He was rightly annoyed but took it pretty well after I explained his deke wasn't visible to me. He did mention I won't get a turkey with my calling not so great (probably true) & I didn't go beyond a quick mention I get 1 or 2 almost every year since I totally blew his hunt.

It’s funny I was trout fishing today at a local pond. There was a kid sitting across the pond from me fishing. I heard a lot of commotion. I looked up and saw a car. Load of kids jump out, one videoing with a phone and the rest with water guns. I heard one say I finally got you. Poor kid thought he was safe and never saw it coming. They all high fived and jumped back in the car and took off. Poor kid looked pissed.

Glad you are ok. Congrats on the turkey. My turkey vest has a big game pouch on the back. I stuff my turkey in the pouch and walk out with it.

I think lot of hens already been bred, but I moreso meant in terms of hunters. Saw almost no one riding around you could tell scouting Sunday evening yet there were people everywhere yesterday but heard no shots in proximity. Usually hear a couple echos. And they are just crazy quiet after fly down right now. Tough striking one up to get in the ballpark.

I was out till near 11am down near to Rt 287 on Public. I call a Gobbler up from a good 200 yards away. That Devil proceeded to make his way above my position and tried to get behind me for a downward peek. I knew that from his last Gobble. I had to turn around and find a better spot and keep looking higher on that Ridge. Pretty sure,I spooked him. Big Gamble as,I sat halfway High on a Ridge. Had Cynthia with me as well. Try him Tomorrow.

Bird got led other way at Plan A. A coyote died at Plan B. Oddly quiet vs yesterday. Oh well, tomorrow is another day.
