  1. Past hour
  2. Basically brand new. I think I used it once. Still have original packaging and instructions. $120. Located in Manasquan 08736.
  3. I bought a Garmin striker 7cv on sat. Spent about two hours running the wires and getting it all hooked up to the boat. Only to realize that the model i bought is a Fish finder only. Does not display maps. Make sure you do your research, now im looking for a second unit that will not be hooked up to a transducer and is only used for navigation. Any recs appreciated.
  4. I could never read all that. I’m a picture guy. Congratulations
  5. I know for a fact they fought against the legalization of crossbows in NJ. . Then they realized 99.9% of their members shoot crossbows also. There are a couple of elitist like sugar that would never. 🤭
  6. Today
  7. So, what you are saying is you killed a turkey😂 Congrats👍🏼
  8. Fishing poles on the roof of the car ,YES , but never missplaced a gun or a bow ! Shit I just ginxed myself !
  9. Hit a new farm this morning called in three hens haven’t heard a Gobble. moved to another spot in a good strut zone nothing so far here either . crazy sitting this morning with heated vest and mid weight jacket now just a sweatshirt that’s too hot
  10. Great post! Same thing here in 15. They went silent 2 yrs ago. The area we hunt the Turkey are super stealth . We have photos of birds and I see them all the time, but limited vocalization. They are definitely call shy. It’s probably a combination of predators, dirt bikers and hunters that has charged some habits. I have been playing around with a mallard duck call. I have a great cluck down and I have pulled in hens with consistency. I have also used a peeping sound on my wood duck call with the same results. This sounds crazy, but I also think the birds stay on the roost longer. I have watched hens sit on some huge pine trees well past sunrise.
  11. Incredible experience and pics! That's a morning to remember for sure!
  12. Great read. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience you shared. Great job.
  13. The NJ Fish and Game Council recently voted and finalized New Jersey’s 2024-25 migratory bird hunting season dates and bag limits . Notable highlights for 2024-25 include: The Canada goose season length was shortened from 45 to 30 days in the North and South Zones; however, the bag limit remains at 3 birds. In the Coastal Zone, the season length remains at 60 days concurrent with the duck season, and the bag limit remains at 2 Canada geese. The brant season remains a restrictive season at 30 days with a 1-bird bag limit. There will again be special hunting days for youths, veterans and active military. 14. Way to go Dan! Congrats! Moved this entry into this topic and updated the scoreboard!
  15. I’m out on private land in zone 8, Asbury, I didn’t hear a gobble or see a bird, I did call in a bobcat, I think that’s the problem! We have bears, bobcats, coyotes, fox, ospreys nesting on a farm silo and eagles on the Musky! It must be tough for critters who are prey living on this farm!
  16. Cutting back on the gym just a little ,still going 5 days a week , stripers coming in, I want to get out after work. Also treated myself to a first time custom fitted Golf Club - Ping Driver ,and new grips on all my clubs I did myself . So Im looking forward to playing golf again . Gave it up 7 years ago because of a degenerated disc in my lower back but felt great last year playing quite a few times . Water temp rising in the ocean so hoping to get out and surf as well. I cant do the winter surfing out there anymore . The comute to work sucks ! 2-2 1/2 hours home every night makes for a long day , up at 4am but I have alot I want to do in life ! So keep moving guys , enjoy & god bless ..
  17. I started with a 5" Humminbird Helix. I was happy at first. Then I wanted something bigger. Then I went to a 7". I was happy at first. Then I wanted something bigger. Then I went to a 9". I was happy at first. Then I wanted something bigger. Now I have two 10" Garmin Ultras. Are you starting to see the pattern here? If you use your unit a lot, you will always want something bigger(That's what she said). I ended up spending way more $$, than if I just bought the 10" screen up front. Cabela's has the Garmin Echomap Ultra 106sv for $1000. You can't beat the price for that unit. Garmin just came out with an upgraded model, so you can get these older units real cheap now. If you're hard limit is $750, then at least skip the 7" screen, and go with a 9". All the big name units will do the same thing, so don't get hung up on a specific brand.
  18. Agreed…gobbling like crazy this morning on private. They ended up drifting off with a few hens to the neighboring property though
  19. That’s another factor for sure. Pressure whether hunters or predators will make them quiet. The private piece I hunt they gobble their heads off. Yesterday’s birds were on public and in my experience they are not very vocal there. The two my son and I shot came in from 300 yards away with a group of 7 toms and Jakes and not one made a sound. The coyote my son shot came sneaking into decoys and I think what attracted him was the few calls I made.
  20. where I hunt it was great, always heard birds gobble, until 2021 then it went downhill. Last month I had two nice gobblers walking past my camera following 17 hens. I know birds are in the area but they have been silent for the last few years, maybe cause of the amount of predators in the area. Few friends hunting a few miles from me never heard a bird yesterday or today
  21. I don’t think the cold is that much of a factor. I’ve hunted upstate in NY in spring when it’s very cold and had snow flurries falling and they gobbled. I think every area is different but I still think the full moon could play a part. Every animal behaves differently during the moon. Humans more so!
